Q: How are federal withholding taxes reported and calculated?
A: SG will report a winner of a Trip Prize and Event Cash Prize to the IRS after the event is completed, as required under federal law. For U.S. citizens, the Federal Government requires lottery winnings be reported to the IRS for tax purposes if an individual wins $600 or more, or the winnings are subject to federal income tax withholding (winnings greater than $5,000).

The tax withholding rate for the Trip Prize and the Event Cash Prizes is 24% for winnings that are greater than $5,000. If you have questions regarding the tax consequences of winning any Texas Lottery game, including a Promotional Second-Chance Drawing, we recommend that you consult with your own accountant or tax advisor. For prizes with values less than $600 a claim form is not required and the value is not reported to the IRS for tax purposes. These prizes will be immediately fulfilled by the vendor upon receipt of the winners list from the Texas Lottery Commission.

For the GAME OF THRONESTM Promotional Second-Chance Trip Prize Drawings, and Event Cash Prizes, questions regarding the prize payments, and tax liability or withholding for cash prizes, should be directed to SG, at 1-800-201-0108. Participation in THE SEVEN KINGDOMS EXPERIENCE Event may be subject to other local, state, and federal laws, including the laws of the State of Illinois.
Q: Can I change my mind and turn down the Trip Prize?
A: You have the option not to claim THE SEVEN KINGDOMS EXPERIENCE Trip Prize you have won. In that case THE SEVEN KINGDOMS EXPERIENCE Trip Prize will be awarded to an alternate entry. Once you submit a Promotional 2nd Chance Claim Form and it is approved, THE SEVEN KINGDOMS EXPERIENCE Trip Prize is considered to be claimed and may not be changed or refused after that point, and tax responsibility will be borne by the prize winner.
